KINGSTON, JAMAICA — The countdown to one of the year’s most anticipated local films has begun. Threads of Us, the new Jamaican feature from acclaimed director Mykal Cushnie and writer Donisha Prendergast, has officially dropped its first trailer — now live at threadsofusfilm.com.

The trailer offers a vivid glimpse into a tender yet turbulent love story between Malcolm, a factory worker, and Danielle, a young seamstress. Set against the backdrop of present-day Kingston, their quiet romance is shaken to its core when Malcolm is accused of a crime he didn’t commit. What follows is a journey of love, injustice, betrayal, and the resilience that keeps them bound together.
Shot entirely in Jamaica with an all-Caribbean cast and crew, Threads of Us delivers a cinematic experience steeped in authenticity — from its raw, unfiltered visuals to a reggae-infused soundtrack featuring contributions from the Marley family, Grammy-winning producers, and reggae greats. Director Mykal Cushnie, known for his work on Mission Catwalk, Run Kenya, and Sweetest Taboo, describes the project as “poetic, powerful, and unapologetically Jamaican.”
